September's Creative Writing Challenge Game (and October's writing prompts)

Welcome to the September 2011 installment of the Creative Writing Challenge Game. If you are new here and would like to participate in next month's challenge, click here for full rules and details. 

Before you share the link to your Creative Writing Challenge Game submission in the Mr. Linky below, here are the writing prompts for the October 2011 installment. Your submission is due October 1st. 

deprecate - to express earnest disapproval of, to depreciate or belittle 

finesse - extreme delicacy or subtlety in performance, skill, discrimination

gemma - any budlike structure or outgrowth that can separate from the parent to form a new identical individual

mailed fist - coercive force or the threat of such force 

varicose - abnormally enlarged or swollen

And the prize . . . One winner for the October 2011 installment of the Creative Writing Challenge Game will be chosen at random from the list of participants to receive a signed print copy of my debut Young Adult novel, Turning Point. The winner will be announced October 2nd. If you are a participating author and would like to contribute one of your books as a future prize, please contact me at woolgatherings@gmail.com. You must be willing to mail a print copy of your book to a domestic or international reader. Your eBook can be shipped anywhere, but you will give the winner the choice of format. *authors, you do NOT need to participate in the game to offer your book as a prize, but we'd love to have you*
